When customers pay us to clean their windows, they have certain expectations of what they are paying for. With these expectations and image to uphold, first impressions are everything. Good grooming is a very important aspect of our image. Combined with a positive attitude, a pleasant personality and a clean uniform, good grooming helps make the customer comfortable with the person performing the service, and the customer deserves that. For this reason, piercings, tattoos and body art must be able to be adequately covered or removed during business hours. Employees are expected to shower, have clean hair and wear deodorant, every day. This is non-negotiable and absolutely required to be accepted into someone's home or business.
We have a smoke-free office and do not allow smoking on a job. If you can't stop smoking (suggested), there are opportunities between jobs or during a break that you may smoke. This is allowed as long as you do not smell of smoke when you return to work. We suggest investing in a bottle of Febreeze and spraying yourself completely before returning to work. Customers can smell that you have been smoking even if you think they can't. This is non-negotiable and absolutely required to be accepted into someone's home or business.
Background Checks & Drug Testing
As stated earlier, customers deserve to be comfortable with who they have chosen to provide service for them. Bren-Mark Window Cleaning wants to be confident in the employees it sends into someone's home or business. Our employees do not have criminal backgrounds and are not under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs. For these reasons, employment with Bren-Mark Window Cleaning is contingent upon passing a background check. We also reserve the right to conduct random drug tests throughout employment. This is non-negotiable and absolutely required to be accepted into someone's home or business.
A large majority of an employee's time is spent working independently. Sometimes it is beneficial to have two or more employees work together on a job that day. You will be expected to work together equally in order to get the work done.
We also require employees to be cross-trained in the area of sales. On those rare occasions that there are not enough jobs for every cleaner to have a full day, employees will be expected to do cold-call bidding at commercial locations to fill in the day. Don't worry, you will be fully trained and compensted for this. This will ensure that you will always have work to do even if a last-minute schedule change affects the jobs to be cleaned that day. People who want to work will like this aspect of our company. We want people who want to work.
At Bren-Mark Window Cleaning we are willing to invest our time and effort into training you, without any prior experience, to be a window cleaner. The learning process is on-going but it will conservatively take 90 days to be fully trained on certain aspects of the trade that allow you to work independently. At that point, most window cleaners are averaging $10-$16+ per hour. The pay rate will go up from there. In return for our investment in you, we ask that you not take what you've learned and use it against us during, or after, your employment in any way for a minimal period of time. Fair enough? We think so. We will ask you to sign a document outlining this concept upon hiring. Not willing to sign it? Sorry. We can't hire you.
How We Pay You
At your current job, do you do more work than your co-workers but get paid the same?
Do you have a history of high performance only to feel taken advantage of?
Are you the one holding it all together while the rest of the help slacks off?
Do you wish you could be paid based on the quality and amount of work you did rather than the hours it took?
We pay our window cleaners on a "Performance-Based" pay system. After your initial 1-2 week training period, you will be paid a variable $ amount for each job, depending on the job size/level of difficulty. This is usually reflected by the price of each job. The bigger/more difficult the job/higher the price, the more money it is worth to the cleaner. How quickly you complete the job will determine the $/hr rate that you worked but won't change how much the job was worth.
Here's an example: This week a cleaner with only 2 months experience completes a job that he's never seen before that will be worth $50 to him. It takes him 5 hours to complete the job. This means that he worked at a $10/hr rate ($50 / 5 hrs).
A month later, the same cleaner goes back to that same job. It's still worth $50 when complete but he has another month of experience under his belt and he's familiar with the job and its details. This time, with these advantages, he completes it in only 4 hours and makes $50. He has now worked at a $12.50/hr rate ($50 / 4 hrs).
Another 2 months goes by and the same cleaner goes to the same job. This time he gets done even faster, in a little over 3 hours. He worked at an approximately $15+/hr rate ($50 / 3 hrs).
This example is designed to show you that with our company, the better you are at your job, the more money you will make for the time spent working.
If this sounds like something you can do, we welcome your application.
